the entry about christmas presents and such

it's christmas eve and i can hardly contain my excitement about the hols. i was never a sucker for festivities. in plain dumb english vernacular, it's depressingly boring. however, i fathom that this year might be a tad different. what with me turning three-tenths of a century, i might have a disparate perspective about caroling around pine trees lit with gazillion bulbous lights.

there are always hordes of people thronging the city streets clamoring for a little bit of the feverish christmas-season-gift-buying bug, and i had to bludgeon my way through get a crowd deep to get my own fair share of presents for my cronies. these are the list of gifts i got in reciprocation (and in no order of price-worth):

a clam card-holder from paul that doubles up as a marquee standee

avant garde spoon kartell rollers from eric

a puma-inspired printed pumps from gabe

stussy bomber from kevin

thoughtful thrift gifts from my family.

every shrewd christmas shopper knows that buying of gifts doesn't stop at just for friends, or for family, so logically, i schlepped around a little longer and after much consideration and tenacious conviction, i got myself a real nice present that is da bomb, practically.

a mercedes benz c180, finally!

a juxtaposition of my old car and my new one.

and in all truisms of truths, the saying you'll never know what you're missing out on till you've really lost it couldn't be farther from the, well, truth. i'm missing my old car already. so, in remembrance of it, here's a look-it before it's sent away to the scrappers. thanks for all the good-old fond memories, old car.

the entry of miniscule festivities

of late, i've been running down memory lane watching re-runs of mean girls with various friends so many a times that i could almost recite the entire transcript it's crazy! i know, right? it's like i've got a fifth sense or espn or something. someone spell me x-y-l-o-c-a-r-p.

anyhows, i must be really down in luck. i made another trip to the hospital yet again. apparently, a cyst-like lump on my wrist, which has been there for almost a year, is mushrooming to the size of a small quail egg. i've decided, for the benefit of those who indulge in quail congee delights, to not have any pictures taken. so here's how it went down:

i traipsed back to the same clinic, but consulted another doctor, who was a specialist in hand and wrist-related malaise. he gingerly poked at my lump (risque much), shone a torch at it (for whatever reason), moved the lump around to assess its mobility, and concluded it to either a case of ganglion or fibroma, both of which required a two-cm saucerization across the locale to extract said lumpy. in laymen's term, it just meant i need to fork out another $3,500 for the operation. fantastic.

on a brighter note, the last day of october, i.e. halloween, brought about some long-awaited fun. the gin gang decided to dress up in acjc outfits. i tried squeezing into my old school pants, and found it to be literally breathtakingly tight. in the end, i went as a flight attendant. hark back to the days, deja vu. meanwhile... photos!

the entry where my cerebrum does the talking

the following are a couple of examples of what my brain throws up from time to time, albeit in an altogether haphazard, loony fashion.

in a world where alicia keys has become the standard de facto for elevator music, logic is ... well, logical, and there's no two ways to a math answer, i have always pondered upon what it would be like to be living on a plane where all sense of rationality was thrown off balance. what if poverty was the ideal norm, social crimes were celebrated, and the pinnacle of dsytopia was what everyone seeked? would a society as such self-annihilate?

after a month-long hiatus from gym and an even longer sabbatical from work, i have begun throwing myself into the throes of these two entities. as rewarding as the gym workouts have been after only a couple sessions (i am after all a mesomorph, according to my friend chronos), i seriously am beginning to doubt the theory of "you reap what you sow" when it comes to my profession. nevertheless, i am not giving up hope. yet.

valentine's day is around the corner, and being single, though not miserable, is a straight ticket to not enjoying this occasion at all. i do hope the damned cupid aims a shot or two at me the next year around. i certainly cannot fathom the idea of being single two years in a row.

i would like a well-balanced life like most. i simply don't fancy staying up till the eerie hours of the morning and getting up the following day still tuckered out, despite the adequate (but irregular) hours. the past two nights have been pretty eventful for me: i was in a deep slumber before midnight beckoned, though i slept for way more than ten hours on both accounts. reminder: reel in the sleeping hours for other activities.

so, what goes on through the back of your head?

the entry that zouked me out

so the body feels good, but if it could express itself somehow, it certainly would not be beneath hurling foul-sounding epithets at me. frankly, i have been over-stressing my body, at various parties, that is. when it came to working, however, i'd skim right through it like the advertisements section of a magazine. not a good sign at all. i definitely would need a good rubdown or some traditional tui na after all the unadulterated hardcore partying and perhaps (perhaps?) do my utmost to get back to work after that.

zouked out much, anyone?

for that reason, i shall swear upon my latest dkny mules acquisition that zoukout 2008 shall be the last and final party of the year for me in singapore. may mildew and noxious fumes wreak havoc on them should i fail to live up to my promise. ergo, with that vow in mind, and a couple bottles of alcohol in tow, the usual suspects camped out at siloso beach resort whilst awaiting the party du jour's kick-off.

our theme in mind was clashing neon, so basically it was cloaking oneself in multi-colored fabric that looked out of place from one another. did we succeed? you make the verdict.

black-meets-white: benjamin and me.

the whole gin gang minus two.

another group shot, but still short of the man behind the camera, ben.

gratifyingly, amidst all the hustle and bustle, we did not forget to celebrate duncan's
birthday, who's now a full bloom twenty-somethinger. unfortunately, the hotel staff burst our bubbles when they prematurely knocked on our doors with the cake and balloon when not everyone had arrived yet. still, it was a sweet success seeing duncan's shocked expression when he was greeted with our almost-sabotaged surprise.

the birthday boy,
who definitely looked way more surprised than what this photo displayed.

a confetti gun meant for his birthday, brought outdoors in the end.

on to partying!! and more pics...

dj sasha, in my opinion, was the best.
his follow up act, dj above and beyond, was nowhere where what his moniker promised.

the crowd agrees, lapping up every sasha ditty.

me and jem: our only shot together. >.<

the venue was a dizzying, sweltering moshpit of people that the tops had to go eventually...

... and her boyfriend, joson, who seems a tad way too gone.

seriously, this guys needs a therapist.

partying until the sun rose.
